About Us
Who We Are
Nestled in the serene beauty of the Catskill Mountains, Catskill Christian Assembly (CCA) is a summer camp and retreat center dedicated to helping individuals draw closer to God through nature. Established in 1961 by a group of Christian churches from Long Island, New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, CCA was born out of a shared vision to create a place where children and adults alike could escape the hustle and bustle of city life and discover the transformative love of Jesus.
What We Are About
At CCA, we believe in the power of relationships, growth, and fun. Our mission is simple yet profound: to foster life-changing experiences through Jesus Christ in the peaceful surroundings of the mountains. Whether it's at our action-packed summer camps or during our reflective retreats, we aim to build a vibrant community where each person can grow in their faith and create lasting memories.
Our programs are designed to nurture spiritual growth, encourage meaningful relationships, and provide a whole lot of fun. From engaging worship sessions to outdoor adventures, every aspect of CCA is crafted to inspire and challenge our campers and guests.
Our History
Catskill Christian Assembly is built on a foundation of faith and service. Over six decades ago, dedicated members from various Christian churches came together with a shared dream. They carried bricks up the mountain, poured their sweat and prayers into the land, and constructed a camp that would serve as a beacon of hope for generations. Today, CCA continues to be managed by a committed board and church members who volunteer their time and energy to keep the camp thriving. None of our camp board is paid; they serve out of a deep love for the mission and the community.
Dave Miller History Video
Dave Miller is a long-time supporter and significant figure in the history of Catskill Christian Assembly. At 86 years old, he remains passionate about the camp, sharing his deep connection to its mission and community. Miller recalls the early days of the camp, which was built with volunteer labor, including carrying bricks up the mountain. He recounts the origins of the camp in the 1960s when Christian churches from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania united to create a place where children could grow closer to God in nature. Miller's storytelling emphasizes the dedication of those who helped establish and sustain the camp, including his own experiences and the invaluable contributions of families like the Faulkes. He also reflects on the personal memories and community spirit that have defined Catskill Christian Assembly over the years.
Our Facilities
Our camp is rustic, offering a simple, back-to-basics experience that allows our guests to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of God’s creation.
Main House: The heart of our camp, featuring essential amenities like bathrooms, showers, and shared lodging rooms, primarily for our dedicated staff. The main house also includes a kitchen and mess hall where meals are prepared and enjoyed.
Chapels: We offer two distinct chapel spaces for worship and reflection. The Upper Chapel is an outdoor space surrounded by nature, with benches and a cross, providing a peaceful setting for group worship. The Indoor Chapel is a more traditional space used for worship services, lessons, and other activities, ensuring a comfortable environment regardless of the weather.
Cabins: Our camp features separate boys' and girls' cabins, offering simple and cozy accommodations for our campers. These cabins are near the Lower Bathrooms, which also include two extra shared lodging rooms for adult staff members.
Recreational Areas: We have plenty of open hill land perfect for group games, a gaga pit for fun and active play, a half basketball court, and a volleyball net. There’s also a campfire area near the lower bathrooms, ideal for evening gatherings and storytelling.
Shelter Area: Nestled in the woods, this space provides a quiet retreat for small group discussions and activities.
